COMMITTED TO THE GLOBAL VILLAGE
A textiles industry can only have a future, if we treat ecosystems with the respect that they deserve, allowing them to sustain a healthy and vibrant flora and fauna. Every action we take has consequences, whether in Germany or in Peru makes no difference. After all, we live in a global village.
ANNAMARIAANGELIKA is committed to act in a way that respects the climate and ecosystems, because the Andes and its human and animal inhabitants are a major part of what allows AMA to highlight both the respect for and living in harmony with nature and people.
At ANNAMARIAANGELIKA, we are aware of the fact that the logistics behind our products poses a particular challenge. Even though
- our entire value chain for knitted goods is situated in Peru,
- nothing is shipped back and forth between countries countless times,
- we make it a point to insist on fair and socially equitable working conditions,
- we put a high value on zero-waste production,
- all the materials used, such as even the labels, are biodegradable
- and we furthermore obtain these from retailers from Germany who have a GOTS, Fair Trade or Ktb Organic certification.
GIVE AND TAKE: FROM PERU WITH LOVE
There is always the matter of air freighting. That is why we make sure to plan our orders very meticulously and put them all together into a single shipment. So in case one of your favourite pieces is not available in our online shop, please bear with us. That is also a part of Slow Fashion. But we do our best to avoid such situations. And if it does happen, we are sure you will understand.
But that is not enough for us! To protect our climate, we need to reduce carbon emissions. And if emitting CO2 cannot be avoided in certain situations, there is always the option of compensating for them. ANNAMARIAANGELIKA made a conscious decision to make up for the damage caused by shipping our pieces, and so we support the Peruvian conservation organisation GaiAma that was established to help protect the rain forest. We are thrilled by the concept of a symbiotic relationship between people and the forest, where permaculture gardening has a pivotal role, the forest is protected from poachers and illegal logging by bases within the forest and where it goes without saying that one uses the resources that nature bestows. For more details, just give the GaiAma website a visit and see what Sascha, Can and their valiant friends are up to.
Any donations that this project receives is invested into buying endangered tracts of rain forest and into the effort of protecting it. For every piece we sell, ANNAMARIAANGLIKA supports GaiAma with a donation of at least one per cent of the the price.
